A jungle would be cool in the backround but I think you'd have to make it very colourful aswell so that it doesn't look inadequatly suited for the bird but use darker shades than the bird so it doesn't blend the bird into the backround. Beautiful bird though :D

thankyou:) im just at awe the detail i could put into this but havnt had the time to do much of anything, I have a couple new pieces and ideas but not as much as I would hope at this point ;) but yah keep up the good work and ill keep you all updated.
Just wanted to tell everyone im still around, a bit:P
pulled a 80 hour week last week and like 50 the last before last or something like that:)
school soon too hopefully, get alittle more on edge in the area of my art
ill look into a rainforest back ground, agian any input on any other animals? insects? swinging jungle men? :P

Perhaps some dragon flies would go nicely.

Great detail in the face and legs. For critique I have a few things -- fisrt off, the feathers. Great shape but unrealistically outlined. Every feather would not look the same, you know? And there is no value/any given light source so that while the beak looks round, the feathers look flat or matted. Also I would agree that a background would give this picture much more interest. However you've captured the colors and proportions of the bird wonderfully.

I got nailed by many artists on this one:P I drew this particular bird in....30 minutes, I took about twice that time coloring it. I have trouble drawing realistic stuff, and your exactly right, no light source which kind of gives it a flat look. This birds feathers are way to organized too, like he has a feather comb in his back pocket. Probally not worthy of a deviant, ill probally scrap it or improve upon it someday in the future. O thanks for the props on the detail in the face and legs ;) Your right though, something about the shape doesnt seem to be realistic for a macaw, but hey, its my first and I gave it a shot. For my abstract style im proud of my realistic birdy, its like... phish outta o2 when I enter the realm of realism from dream.

Ha ha, my advice would be to stick with what you know.. if realism isn't your thing then don't try to make it... but don't get me wrong I don't think this picture was a failure, I just think that it could have been better and I guess so do you. Ha ha, the colors still make it fun to look at!

I like this! Reminds me of my blue and gold macaw, Annabella. She'd like it, too. ;)

Thanks, its a picture of my birdy.
Annabella, what a fitting name for a macaw.
