Ego Loss

Sun Feb 26, 2006, 12:36 AM
Yes there are those great geniuses and wealthy men who act in a way perhaps that we envy, but most ego problems come from our own inability to recognize exactly (or even closely) who we really are. We are by most, fragile and imperfect individuals with many faults. Whereas there certainly is nothing to brag about our lackings, certainly knowing our faults is much preferable to thinking that we have none.
If we would merely admit to ourselves that we lack in many areas, we would see that we would become more of a comfortable person to be with. Most inflated egos are byproducts of depressed egos; a need to be recognized, a need to be the best. When we come to grips with the fact that others have much more capabilities than we do, we can begin to become more socially inclined and get along much better with all people.
Remember, it is only the person who knows little that thinks he knows it all. The more a person knows, the more he realizes that he doesn't know much.

Yet you can't go around finding so many faults that you find nothing good and likeable about yourself... a fine line, isn't it?

Agreed, you def dont want to compile lists of your own flaws, that will drive you to insanity. There are just way to many flaws in EVERYONE, even so called perfect people. It is a fine line we walk everyday. I think what is important is to realize what your good at but dont cross that fine line by bragging about this and that. If the people are your friends they already know what your good points are, there is no need to shove your accomplishments in others faces. Work together because we all have a bit of a puzzle. I know my flaws and my strong points, I use those to further a greater cause while recognizing other people skills in which I do not posess. I know my friend Paul is an amazing musical talent, I dont try to take cetner stage when he is playing, nor does he try to alter my drawings.... Its a lesson I will be learning the rest of my life, accepting people for who they are and what they have to offer. Big or Small.
